Oh - that was not meant to disrespect the opinion... I know that objectively a rail as you described is a better idea - and more functional... it just feels like painting a pretty wood gun.

....and I tapped out because I don’t choose form over function, so I doubt I’ll have much to add to the discussion going forward.

Not anymore. They were a great budget option 8 years ago, but there are better options nowadays

There are no bargains in optics.

I use a Burris veracity 3-15 for hunting on my 270. Excellent hunting scope. FFP, good glass, low turrets and in your budget.
