So in a few hours I will have half a new knee. They are going to replace the outside of the right knee. In one way I can't wait. The pain of just trying to walk for the past year is very tiring.
I don't know how long the recovery will be. I am told back to work in three months. Doctors say I am too young for a full knee replacement. I'm 53. If they did a full one it would not last and would need to be replaced in 20 years or so and it is difficult to replace a full replacement.
any way wish me luck. I will be on the site a lot over the next few months.

You should be back in three months but you'll want to be carefull...watch twisting it.

My wife had both hers done at the same time two summers ago.

Holy cow!! Your wife is tough.:yo: My wife just had one knew replaced and I don't believe there's any way she could have handled both at the same time.

To the OP, probably the best advice my wife got was to do exactly what her therapist told her to do.

I will be the ney sayer.... Had a TKR on 9/9/2009 should have been 666 cause it's been a Devil. I went through everything fine, rehab got excellent mobily. However, I tried hiking, hunting, sking and just couldnt do it the way I did pre surgery. Ortho DR said it was made to "Walk" without pain. So now I cant really do what I enjoy. I would have been better to keep sucking down the Naproxen. To top it off it caused me to twist/slip fall and broke my leg causing nerve damage. So now I'm a real "gimp" and cant walk more then 100 yards without severe nerve pain and drop foot. They will not touch the other knee.....

Good luck , do the rehab, keep moving and I pray yours is better then mine.

Oww Man... Hope that gets better.

Good luck. Having witnessed a recovery first-hand, the first several days are the worst during recovery, which you would expect. Within a week you'll be thankful that you did it. Heal quickly, my friend.
