Welcome! I'm a pistol guy, too. But primarily because the closest shooting ranges to me are indoors, and I'm not into shooting centerfire rifles or shotguns at a 25-yard indoor range. .22 rimfires are good at that distance, though.
I have owned several 1911's over the years, but I sold or traded them. Now I prefer striker-fired "safe action" type pistols. Glocks aren't my first choice, but I can run 'em and get a decent score in almost any match with one. But S&W's M&P Pro series, Springfield's XD series, and Ruger's SR9 / SR40 fit my hands better.
