New(old) flesh eating drug hits US streets

well, you think the FDA is going to require drug dealers to put warning labels on their products?

Well, seeing as how this isn't a drug that's "dealt", unless you count the means of acquiring the original Codeine pills (which are in fact controlled by the FDA).
This isn't like crack, where it's hard to botch the chemistry. This crap is cooked up by the individual, not sold on the streets. Just to lay down some fact.

Codeine meds are OTC over there, they are basically cooking the codeine out of the pills and injecting the concentrate like heroin. no wonder it rots flesh, the chemicals they are extracting with are pretty nasty.
Not anymore. Russians finally wised up and took codeine out of the OTC pills last year.

Aye. probably as a direct result of the growing popularity of this drug in the media. They've had a smack/opioid problem over there for a LONG time. Some theories are that they needed the drugs available to suppress the violence after the fall of the Soviet union, now that media over there is becoming a little more "western", they cannot have the reality of a LARGE addicted population to make them look bad.

Who comes up with this stuff? Let's mix random **** together and inject it and see what happens......

Pharma companies came up with it. It's called desomorphin.

The reason it does this isn't the drug, its what these wanna be chemists use as reactants but leave all the left over stuff (like lighter fluid) in it.

Nasty stuff.
