Why do people ask so much for used guns?
1. Ignorance. "I paid $X during the Sandy Hook retardation it must be worth $X"
2. Delusion. "I have $X in this AR build plus my time and 'expertise' therefor it must be worth 125% $X"
3. Accessorized. "I have $X in the gun, $Y in extra mags and $Z in night sights; it is worth 95% X+Y+Z"
4. Capitalistic. "I am not desperate. I am going to start at retail and slowly work my way down until I find the top of the market." (Me)
5. Trader. "I am going to list it at retail, give wholesale for someone else's gun on the trade, and take a cash offer for less."
6. Retail Shopper. "I saw this very same Glock 22 for sale at Bass Pro yesterday for $650. I am only asking $600."

with possibly a few exceptions i cant think of offhand, this sums it all up
Of course, some just over value their guns. But I believe some buyers will a pay a premium to avoid the paperwork assoicated with buying through an FFL. There are various reasons for avoiding an FFL -- some illegal and some based on paranoia. But it's a seller's market in those situations and prices are therefore inflated.
i dont get that, always takes me like 10 minutes to do the paperwork, even without the CCW
I am not referring to time constraints related to paperwork. I am talking about those who can not legally buy a gun and those that think the government is creating a list of gun owners via FFL paperwork.
I believe you don't get it because you completely missed the point of what he was saying.
Excellent! Yeah, there's a few other explanations but those categories sum it up.
I'm more of the Trader. If I want to sell a gun, I list it at the right price and get it over with. If I'd rather trade, I list it high but am much more reasonable with trade offers.
The "Accessorized" category often has very good deals. People just see the price and flip out though.
