New vs. Used

I had someone with the #3 contact me...and all the accessories put the gun far out of my price range. Life goes on...the world keeps turning...water is still wet...etc.

Usually the asking price is just the starting point for a negotiation.

Not as much lately. People seem to get pissy lately if you come in under their asking price. Mostly newer people, but there seems to be lots of new people the past few months. I don't even bother making offers anymore when price is over priced.

I became a member when ODT got started. Back then their were a lot of great deals and guns. I was buying, selling and trading a good bit. I made some great purchases and passed along deals I got to other members when I got board with a gun. Then things started to change. I saw people start to buy low then relist the item at a higher price. I had it happen to me on several occasions when someone bought a gun from me stating that either the gun was for their wife or its a gun they always wanted then I saw the guns relisted at a higher price the same day. This was when I realized that the oppertoonist were infiltrating the web sight looking to make a quick profit. It seems others had realized they are here and the great deals started to disappear.

As the deals disappeared the higher prices became the norm which is what you see today. I have gone back to buying from other web sights and actually buy a lot from on line retailers like buds guns, impact guns and Kentucky gun co. I purchased a gun recently from Classic firearms along with some ammo. I would rather spend this money here because I know some people here need it but when I can buy the gun new for the same price or less then I go with the new gun.

Another thing I don't see as much as I use to is guns going from one member to another to another and again to another till its been sold a dozen times on this sight.

I just sold a like new condition Glock 19 2nd Gen (This particular one was built in 1993) to a coworker for $700. He could of just walked in any gun store and bought a brand new Glock 19 and still have the money to do lines of coke off a strippers ass, but he chose the 2nd Gen instead. A whole lot of people like the early models including myself.
