My guess is because people are tired of low ballers so they price it high enough to be "low balled" back to where they would feel comfortable selling it at.

Ah, so when I sell it at 50% my asking price, but am still making a profit, I can feel good and then the buyer also things he's getting a deal so he feels good. Everyone gets to feel good! I like that.
