New York City can suck a dong

1) If you're going to type around the censor, don't do it when replying to a mod. We are much less likely to catch it that way ;)

2) A simple google search will tell me that taking an unlicensed handgun to NY state is bad juju...I do not need a lawyer or a LEO to help me with that.

Sorry about that, honestly was not thinking of typing around a censor, just was trying to be a bit geek-cool with the slang (that word is an actual command in linux). Won't happen again. :-)

I understand what you are saying, but I am just tired of the fact that people seem to think the average Joe will be able to know/understand/follow all of the laws of every state in the union. It is damn near impossible. I had to carry a book that was well over 300 pages (OCGA) because I could not keep up with it all, and I wore a badge! Toss in case law, which most of us cannot know (that usually does take a lawyer) and the idea that "ignorance of the law is no excuse" starts to get very, very weak.

I travel thru 48 diffrent states..and yes,i do need to stop at state lines and adjust my load/weights and apply/obtain permits for each state i travel into and at times sit and wait for hours to obtain permission and clearances..and keep up with state laws/regulations as they change constantly....hassle?..yes. ...the alternative?........Fines/jail.

So NO sympathy from me..sorry.but i see it every day..

I still don't see how she could have no knowledge of the draconian NYC laws about guns. I keep hearing, "She's from ND...." So what? We're in Ga, and we here about their retarded laws all the time. Hell, when I was still in TX, I heard about the NY laws, and that's a good bit farther from NY than ND is.

^^ I can't speak for anyone else but I have always maintained that she was legally wrong and will pay the price. I also stand by my statement that New York can choke on a trouser trout.

I get your point but it is much easier to look up and plans for that. And its printed in black and white in your atlas with numbers to call (which half are disconnected).

I didn't read the article or circumstances, but IMO if it was a layover, connecting flight or unplanned arrival I don't think should matter what the law is there as long as you are legal at point of origin and at point of arrival.

So I guess it would be reasonable that I should get ahold of flight plans and alternate flight plans so I know what states I am fling over and prepare to land in all of those states? And know the laws in all of those state just to be sure that I'm not breaking their laws just icase I end up there?

So what do you do if your hypothetical flight to Philly unexpectedly gets re-reouted and has to land in NYC? You still have to get your luggage and go back through security to pick up another flight out of NYC..........

just remember No one may carry an ice cream cone in their back pocket if it is Sunday." Thats georgia law and just because its written down by some elected ass hat does not make it right.
