Oh god, I can hear it now: Mad man bought gun at gun show without background check, went on a rampage, with a "assault shotgun", injuring two, and wounding a officer. Gunman was subdued by law enforcement after a 3 hour standoff. This gonna get blown way out of proportion.

Not really. Every jackass with an old gun or extra couple boxes of ammo is out trying to unload (no pun intended) their crap at ridiculous prices. Many of these folks aren't "gun people", and really know nothing about firearm safety.
