No "Home Defense" gun?

...
the problem with being all tactical with guns is appearance. I’m of the opinion that a shotgun would look the least suspicious. After all one consideration of being involved in a civilian shooting ...is the risk of legal measures be taken against you.

That's not why I don't have a dedicated home defense gun, but it would be a worthy consideration in a heavily liberal area, especially in a state without "stand your ground" and "castle doctrine" and "immunity for legal self-defense" laws like we have in Georgia.

The problem with having a gun that is clearly 100% built for killing people, and has no other legitimate use, is that key players in the criminal justice system (cops, prosecutors, judges, and jurors) can have an emotional reaction to it; they might see your choice to own and keep handy such a single-purpose people-killing machine as evidence of a depraved mind.
Thus they would think you acted not out of fear, and not out of necessity to stop a crime, but with MALICE-- gleefully shooting because you thought you had a "green light" to finally cap somebody's azz.

Mount a flashlight to the shotgun and call it a day. Nothing wrong with having extra ammo on it, but statistics say it won’t be needed. If you want extra ammo, and sidesaddle is inexpensive and easy to install.

Not only do I NOT have a firearm dedicated to home defense
I also do NOT have a spoon dedicated for soup only.
No ink pen dedicated for check writing only.
Dog has a bowl dedicated for his use.
I may be old fashion, some call me worse things.
For me, any firearm readily available is for home defense.
If it goes Bang! it can defend a home.
The main question may be is your home worth defending?
Or is it time to call in the bulldozers? And if so where in
tarnation did you stash your bulldozer defense gun?
