No Scammers

Last year I listed some new brass for $50. Someone responded to the add, he did not use the PM. A scammer was going through the adds and sent the guy a PM and they arranged a sale. I had nothing to do with the sale and the buyer sent $50 to the scammer through Venmo and of course he never received the brass. He gave me a negative and called me all kinds of names, it took me a week to straighten this out. The moral of the story is don't respond to the add, always use the PM system.

An idea is to ask the assumed scammer to meet at a police station. 9/10 it will scare them away and they will immediately ghost you. Then you report them.

This just happened to me. I didn't know about the no comment, only PM thing. Some random guy messaged me and asked me to email someone else saying that was the contact info for the lister. I didn't fall for it, but it was definitely something I did not expect.

Same thing just happened to me. I commented on the post to tell seller I was gonna message them. Someone else messages me with an email address, saying it was for the seller. They had just joined, so it was clear it was likely a scam.

Commented in a classified post earlier this week (I know better now) and received two PM's from new accounts saying seller was a "grate" guy and if I were to contact him at blahblah@gmail.com, he would respond faster.

So be careful out there.

I hate scammers with a passion. If they were to expend all this effort in a real job, imagine what they could accomplish.

I've thought that for years....
