No Scammers

Actually that would solve virtually none of them. The overwhelming majority, probably north of 95%, are one of two things:

Scammer sees you post interest in an ad, sends you a PM that says something along the lines of "PM the seller at such and such email address for faster response" and if you do, they act as if they're the seller and ask for a deposit to hold it for you.

or

Scammer sees you posts interest in an item, does a quick post search to see if you've ever posted your phone number and if you have they send you a text pretending to be the seller

And you'd likely be shocked how many people fall for both of those.

At the end of the day, what solves 100% of the scam attempts is don't ever send funds via CashApp, Venmo, Zelle, whatever unless you know the person personally and can be sure who you're sending it to. If you never send them money, you can't possibly get screwed.

Should be a sticky if it isn't already.

I had 2 messages today from NEW ACCOUNTS that were created just mins before messaging me saying they wanted to buy something I posted, send my phone number to close the deal... :pop2::censored:

Yep more scammers, replied to a classified with PM sent and got this below back. I had already talked with the seller. everyone beware.

"Hello buddy, you can reach out to the seller on his via email below for faster response he is a grate seller."

Sweettigger500@gmail.com
I got that exact one when responding to an ad for an American Tactical FX .45acp from Remmy700. "Seller" then emailed back: Okay sir, a deposit of at list #100 is needed before meet up, you can check my feedback, I can do Zelle, PayPal f&f, Venomo f&f, pick from the options I we send my info.

If I had time I would tell them I needed $200 up front just to come meet them but it isn't worth it to jerk their chain. The name on the email account was Kyraa Weston in case anybody else needs to know. Also the email from ODT had a subject "motido started a private message with you". I won't respond any more.

Update: Remmy700 had nothing to do with the scam stuff, just to make that clear with everyone.

It would help the membership to have a "read only" thread that lists actual busted scams from this site.
Admins could post details of how the scam worked (or was supposed to work) and key words or phrases from said scam to be on the look out for in the future...
Knowledge is power....
Agree. I have not seen a scam. Maybe a "scam of the day" post. I know a lot of this is common sense but more education would not hurt.

We have so many times it’s not funny, seems a wasted effort, as in the next few days we have more not less marks get taken.

Literally 9 posts ago in this thread I detailed exactly how the scam goes that accounts for at least 95% of the ones we see.
