studying on how to do it. Elk slabs are huge. Brainstorm tonight and approach it tomorrow. Got to find someone who can make a sheath for it
Typical elk is pretty porus/pithy on the inside, making for rather thin skin on solid bone. I'd suggest cutting the profile roughly to the shape of your tang - centered on the areas that look the thickest. Then gradually sand down to preferred thickness. Load the porus interiors with epoxy to seal up. Resand and possibly add some vulcanized fiber spacer material to the slabs before fitting to tang. Elk can be real nice looking if done right.
