Even if the story is true, so what? Do you think if one of us orders a laptop from Amazon, the government is going to jump on the UPS truck and load malware so they can spy on our porn downloads? IF they are actually doing this, I'm sure they have certain targets (persons of interest) worthy of such effort. I am quite okay with surveillance when warranted. You know, during the first gulf war, they intercepted printers bound for Iraq and with cooperation from Intel, put tracking chips in them. When turned on in residential areas, they were ignored. When turned on in underground bunkers, it painted them as "military targets". This turned out fairly useful as far as finding bunkers and blowing the sh** out of them.
