They could have gone to the Civilian Marksmanship Program and been refurbished. Might want to check the program out to see it's merits.

IMHO, that would be better than leaving them where they are or scrapping them.
Well, I've have 6 (Garand sickness) ALL from the cmp, 5 greek AF returns and a Danish return, I've always heard they are in bad shape as they (Korea) didn't value them much after the lend lease program and Korean war. Bad storage ect, a great deal of rust rotten wood.

even if they are in bad comsmetic shape, i know lots of people would line up for a lesser priced garand. I'd pay 400-500 for a beater garand just so I can leave my nice ones in the safe when I have the itch to shoot them.
my biggest issue with this is that the import was ok'd previously and then outside influence changed that decision. it's a precursor of things to come and the lack of research that goes into these orders.

Until we can muster the votes to remove these fools from office, they will continue to take and destroy until we have nothing left.
You'd think with an economy like we are dealing with now ..import the weapons, have military armorers at the armorers schools rebuild and rework , sell them thru CMP and apply profits to lower debt....every little bit helps...of course that is only if the intent were to improve the economy and debt situation instead of making it worse and the country weaker.
It is hard for me to believe that the intent is anything other than destruction of our freedoms and way of life.
We've got to do like they do , fill our cars with voters and get them to the polls.
Instead of listenening to friends and relatives say they are going to vote ..say , hey thats great lets get a couple friends each and go together...make sure they get there.
That's what its going to take cause you can be sure the pro guncontrollers will rent buses and as usual pay the 20.00 bucks per vote,or hand out the sixpacks of beer and cartons of cigarettes to buy the votes from the give me's and you owe me's to run the rest of us over.
