Okuma Okuma We have plenty of threads discussing the upcoming "rule" change to who is considered a dealer. Similar to when the brace ban was set in motion, there were changes made to how braced firearms were listed across the classifieds, but I have not seen anything in regard to how this new BS is going to ACTUALLY change the landscape of ODT.

I think it would be wise for you or other staff members to address what this looks like so we can all make the best choice going forward and so the site traffic doesn't fall off.

The pistol braces were a no brainer, they were made "illegal" so we stopped allowing them.

As I have read this new law and understand it, I don't see any changes being necessary for us to comply. It has always been the responsibility of the parties involved in transactions to be sure they are complying with all local, state, and federal laws and that will still be true after May 20. It is not our responsibility to determine who is and isn't a dealer in the eyes of the government or ATF, that is their job I believe.

Thanks for the quick response.

Perhaps one of our legal eagle members might put a summary out there in plain English? Cutting through the keyboard commando “information” would be most helpful.

Echoing Gingerbeard Man Gingerbeard Man , I don’t want to see site traffic drop, either.
That would be nice. I think the update is something along the lines of 400+ pages. I'm sure it's meant to be as clear as mud so if things ever make it to court, the ambiguity can be leveraged against you. Topically it seems that ANY private sell will be a no no so my concern is that literally anything listed that is a firearm is just easy picking for the corrupt overlords.

Okuma Okuma says it's our responsibility to stay within the guidelines of law, I'm sure the public AND private content is easily obtained with or without site owner permission. So whether you believe you're within the letter of the law, they have all the ammo to twist the truth.

Imagine the constitution of these United States, establishing the greatest country on earth was written on just four pages and 233 years later some bureaucrats need 400 pages to address some stupid rule to infringe upon it. 🤦‍♂️

Anyone filed suit over it, yet? GGO, NRA, etc.
