Oil Change Scam - Watch Your Car!

Yes I believe it is an inside job. I kind stood afar (to give then their "space") but saw the stream of oil stop. that's when I started to walk over. next time I will not be more than 10 feet away. what shocked me was it took less than a minute to refill it. that must be some high pressure oil coming thru or a very small amount of it.

It shouldnt take more that 20 seconds

sorry I prefer not to name them (at the moment). but its very easy to see reviews of any oil change place, just google them.

Those reviews do help but remember; most people that get excellent service don't do reviews. Also, if a former employee is doing a review they may have been fired and are just being Richards.

You seem to have caught them so that is good. Like I said; call the news, not the company.

Wow that's so sad that they have to over pinche the oil. Check your oil levels bro. I go to Goodyear or do it myself. Only go to the small places for emissions.

Here is another suggestion, Mark your oil filter as they also have been known to change the oil and not the filter if they can clean it off instead.
If you use the fram filters with the coated grip? A paint marker will do wonders and doesn't come off so easy.
Or any marks to show old from new will do just fine.

I managed a quick lube for a couple years and now rent space from one. I have firsthand knowledge of how roughly 7 stores in the area run day to day. All the ones I know of are first rate.

In the opposite direction I can tell you that the store I rent from has at least one customer a week come in and try to blame pre-existing conditions on the business. Everything from oil leaks to body damage. I saw one woman say they messed up her brakes and she got a basic oil change.

IMO people are just ****ed up. I hate doing commerce in this society.

Had a similar experience at a national tire chain years ago when I wanted all four tires rotated and balanced. I watched while they only balanced two tires. I brought it up to the manager and he insisted they did all four and called me a liar. I took him outside and showed him the old weights and the road dirt that was undisturbed all the way around the rim. He refused to do anything, so I left without paying. I'll never go back again.

I generally change my own oil but one day I was rushed and went to a quick lube place I had been using to recycle my old oil. They had seemed ok and were generally helpful.

Well this time it was a different crew but I went ahead and had them do the change. Levels and color looked good but I had developed a oil drip. A small leak can occur if the crush washer is not seated right and gets deformed so I figured that was it. I jacked up the car and crawled underneath to find the oil drain plug was only finger tight. I'm lucky it didn't just fall out on the highway.

I made sure the crush washer was seated right and torqued it down properly and the leak was gone. Never again will I go to a quick lube.

I'm very anal about what fluids go in my car/truck, those places buy the cheapest oils and put in your car. A different brand every time and who's to say the kid fresh out of high school is looking at the 0W-20 on the cap and he puts 10W-30 in? Hell with that one brand of oil and one weight for me, and to ensure this I do it my self. Plus saving $10-15 bucks makes ever 3rd change free. :) just my .02
