Oil & Filter changes are cheap ~ Engines are expensive.

Yes sir. I've put a little more than 5,000 on the new to me motor and everything is working as it should. I also replace a speed sensor on the transmission, and that solved a CEL that kept popping up.

There is no way that I would give up on a solid, reliable rust free vehicle for an expensive newer shiny vehicle because the newer vehicles are not worth fixing - they are disposable.
They've all been disposable way too long already. I can tell you this. If I was looking to buy right now, I'd be looking at something older than I already have. And that says a lot. My vehicles range from 20-41yrs old right now.

I do wish that I was able to keep some of my GM cars produced in the late 60's and early 70's, those were great vehicles that are rebuildable.

My mechanic recommended this Valvoline transmission fluid for my high mileage 2007 and I have noticed that the old 6-speed is shifting smoother after just one drain and fill.

Now I am thinking their Restore and Protect motor oil may actually live up to all of the hype, so I will give it a try with my next oil & filter change for the 5.7L
