I just got some Lucas Extreme gun oil. I like it but it smells like burnt ass!

Oil or grease, either one will work just fine for you. The general rule of thumb is grease for sliding parts and oil for rotating parts, but I've never seen it make a lick of difference on firearms used "normally" by civilian under regular conditions.
