Absolutely. The universe is too vast for us to think that we're the only sentient life form in existence.

The problem is the Universe is just too big.
I don't believe the human mind is capable of processing the enormity of it all. Our little galaxy alone has by all estimates as many as 400 billion stars with their planetary systems and there are roughly 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe.
Assuming that any alien race is subject to the same laws of physics as we are then inter solar system travel is near impossible let along traveling to other galaxies.
Interdimensional travel...well that's a whole different subject.
