You had me until you said brass. With no screw down back or crown, nah. I guess my Seikos have spoiled me for a long time. But they're not a cheap watch either. Really never were

Yeah, I realized that after I bought it. That said, there are other color combos that have a SS case instead of plated brass... And they have automatic versions as well...

I really wanted that color combo though, and for $83 with a pretty decent bracelet, I am willing to let it slide. If it was gonna be my only watch, I am with you, I would pick something else. But as a "looks amazing cheap beater watch", its almost perfect.

I'm glad to see Timex stepping up their game in recent years. The one you posted looks pretty good. I keep looking at some of the Q models and the Falcon Eye on eBay. I really dig the retro looks of the Falcon Eye.

It is a good looking watch. Beater for me would be extreme use. So I don't see brass holding up. I've had Timex back in the day. Never really got long term service out of them. But back then, few watches lasted that long anyway. My first good watch was a Hamilton. It was my only watch for 11yrs. I wore a hole in the crown. That watch saw a lot of abuse

If you want extreme use, get yourself a G-Shock Mudmaster series... When you run out of ammo, you can take that watch and bash someone's head in...

Haven't had to resort to that. But I do like a good diver's watch.....

I mean, the G-Shock is globally renowned for being some of the toughest took watches on the planet. Granted, their looks don't appeal to everyone, they have so many colors, sizes and styles that there is bound to be one you like... And they have all metal ones as well, if you don't like plastic.

The Time Teller on YouTube loves the Mudmaster. And I completely understand the appeal IF ... you have a need for all those features. I just don't like how most G Shocks look and feel. Granted, since buying a Casioak from another member here I found that I wear it more than I thought I would even though it feels like a plastic toy. But like I told one of my bosses last week, I see how the G Shock thing works. It's like those ugly ass Heydude shoes. You get up in the morning and slide your feet into them and just go without even thinking about it. THAT is the G Shock as far as I can tell. In fact I'm surprised that they don't come with Velcro straps just to make it that much easier.
So basically I hate this watch for feeling and looking like a Kmart blue light special. But I also dig it because I don't have to give a **** about it at all. It shows me the time every single time I look down at it and that's ALL it needs to do. I wanna call it the Hi Point of watches but I can't because I think more of Hi Point than that.

Some of them are cheaper, but durable,enough plastic. Others are Titanium and cost $5,000...

For the longest time I thought the same thing, because the only Casio watches I saw, were at Walmart, JC Penney, etc... But once you get into the world of them and watch some of the big review channels, you find that there is a whole Casio world out there... I never knew about their upper level G Shocks, or their Edifice or Oceanus lines... They are a legit watch company and folks like Nico Leonard consider them "God Tier" watches...

You like the Casioak, that's a fantastic watch. I have the stainless steel version so you get all the toughness and features, but in a much more upscale package. And they come in some cool dial colors...

I find something like this really cool. It has everything that makes a G-Shock a G-Shock, but putting it on a proper steel bracelet and in a steel case, gives it that "proper watch" look and feel.

I went with the cheaper($300) 2110 series and gave up solar power and bluetooth, but at basically half the price with a cool lime green dial, I love the thing. The Casioak is a properly cool watch, but I totally get the plastic thing... It has its advantages, but it still FEELS like a plastic watch, even if its somewhat pricey...

I like to keep it simple, rugged and dependable. The seiko diver's with a sapphire crystal and bracelet have worked well for me
