Okay I'm into watches again. Post your favorite models

Umm. There are much larger collections, even amongst my circle. Some in the $3M range. I dabble.
Oh I've got a few friends that are investors and pilots etc that have single watches that are $750K & up.. I just know what I have in my small collection so far and I'm definitely going to try and trade one in for a AP Royal Oak.. I've been wanting one of those since I saw one on my friends wrist! 😂 I asked he told and I was shocked 😂 I love the way they look, function and not to mention everyone knows an AP when they see it

I'm a year older than you and pretty much see it the same way. Only thing I don't dig about 70s style watches would be those big wide leather Bund style straps. They're ugly and look like they smell like a wet dog in the summer. Hell I've had nylon straps that I would have to take off and scrub with Dawn and a brush of just out them in the wash in a net bag.
But I do dig the 70s cushion style cases. Timex has a new retro style that I believe is an automatic. Only problem with that is how much do you really wanna pay for a Timex? Still looking hard at the retro Falcon Eye though.
Timex makes a good watch. They are a lot like Casio. Very underrated because so many people are used to seeing their bottom models at Walmart for $24.... But they have models higher up the food chain that are actually quite good.

Yeah I don't wanna bad mouth Timex since I THINK it's still an American company. But you're right about their catalog being all over the map.

Casio makes some badass watches
I have three Casios . Two are the sub $60.00 Duro divers which for the money I really like. And as I've mentioned before I finally got a G Shock and I find myself wearing it more than I thought I would. And that's because it's just easy. The G Shock makes you a slack ass like the guys you see at Walmart with sweats and Crocs on. I know Casio has a very diverse catalog with models from under $50.00 to about $5K . I was shocked when I first saw that. My problem with those super high end Casio models is that even though they're feature rich they still all plastic with quartz internals. So I feel like those models will only hold value to other G Shock collectors.

Couple things come to mind... Not all Casios or even G-Shocks are plastic. They have a ton of all metal models...

Personally, I never cared about resale value. I mean, if I spent Rolex money, then sure, I would want it to retain value... But I buy the watches that I want to own and wear, not what I want to sell one day, you know? I have a $20 Casio world timer(Royale) model that I love, and then I have my $5k Cuervo y Sobrinos "Churchill" on my wrist at the moment, and everything in between. To me its a fun hobby... Some watches are just fun and there to take a beating, others are for dressing up, etc... Casio is a cool brand that has the entire range covered...

If you want a more upscale G-Shock, their new 2110 all metal Casi-Oak series is awesome and only around $300

I agree that none of us should look at watches as investments. After all it's like muscle cars or Harleys. You probably won't like what I like. So it's a buy what YOU like situation for most of us.
Maybe last week I posted about opinions on the Hamilton Ventura and as I expected it was a love hate thing. And I haven't bought one yet (mostly because I have four broke down vehicles in my yard) BUT if my personal situation was different I definitely would buy one. Mostly because I don't dig what everyone else does. And THAT is the best part or the basis of the watch guy community. Some models are universally loved and some are polarizing.

I like having a combination of some of the popular and iconic models, as well as having some models that are more obscure. They can be more expensive, or they can be cheap, so long as they are interesting and have something cool about them. There are watch geeks, and there are watch snobs. I think it's safe to say that folks like you and I and the others here, are the former, rather than the latter.
