I grew up reading every war comic that I could get my hands on. I’m sure that’s much of the reason why I love US milsurps so much. Did anyone else like reading them?

I still like to read them when I can find a few for sale…..

We had an Army Surplus (back when it was real surplus) store and as a kid the owner would let me rummage around and checkout all of the cool stuff. Found a WW2 gas mask bag that I used as a book bag for school. The smell of GI gear is unique and now it reminds me of boot camp. Those were the good days.

Amazon looks like it has all of the "Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos" by Marvel. 45 books.

No comic books but my brothers and i never missed "Combat". I even had a Thompson submachine gun for playing war. Come to think of it -- nobody was ever a Nazi.

I remember playing war….those sticks were m3 grease guns in my mind and we were fearless. Good times…..

I miss the old surplus stores. I can almost smell the old usgi web gear….
