Several decades ago I found a very deep well way out in the middle of nowhere in a National Forest. It was almost completely hidden by very thick brush. I think I was tromping around try to flush rabbits when I found it. I've kept it in mind all this time... just in case I ever need to dispose of a body.

and with old home places are usually old well holes Be Careful

Just make a mental note of where they are. Knowing where a couple of abandoned wells are can be useful knowledge in some extraordinary circumstances.

To OP:

I have several good stands of daffodils that I have salvaged from the woods.

Yucca plants are another good indicator of a nearby home site.

Anyone else here stumbled on the Watson Springs Hotel?

I haven't "stumbled" on it, I know where it is and have visited it several times. It still has tiled "baths" down near the river that are spring fed, that were a major attraction for the hotel.
