I'm looking for a place in north ga that is a one day hike in (around 5 miles) to take my wife. We did woody gap to neels gap last fall (one night trip, we camped in the middle) and want to do another trip to a fishing location. The idea is to hike in friday, spend all of saturday, and hike out sunday. I'm not too particular about the fishing (bait or lure only) as i'm not great at catching fish so we would wouldnt be fishing for our dinner.

I'm just looking for a location that's only accessible on foot where I can camp and have the possibility of catching a fish.

Any ideas would be appreciated,

Thanks

Look anywhere in Cohutta. We used to hike in to Jacks River Falls on the Beach Bottom trail, but I don't think you can camp close to the falls anymore. Anywhere in that area is a nice hike. Look at Holly Creek and Emory Creek Falls as well.

If you go somewhere in the Cohutta wilderness and you take honeybuns, little debbies, maple syrup or peanut butter make sure you hide it from the BEARS. lol

I've taken my girls (now 7 and 10), for the last couple of years to Cohutta, and backpacked from the western trailhead of the Hickory Creek trail, down to the Conasauga river. It's an easy 1.5 mile hike down to the river and camping. You can pick up the maps at REI, or other stores catering to backpacking. They also sell them at the store there in Cisco on 411.
