One Handgun Only

S&W 17-3 .22lr

My needs include small game hunting. That's what I actually use a handgun for most. I carry one for self defense as much as anyone, but like everyone else I don't expect to actually use one for that. I don't expect to actually use one for SD against bears, but I do carry one for that. As things stand, I could only reasonably expect to meet two of those needs with one handgun. BUT, for the things I ACTUALLY DO with a handgun it's a .22lr.

Technically, I could work up a small game load and also a bear skull cracker with my GP100 .327. Not legal in GA, though.

A quality .357 revolver with a 4 in. barrel. It will never jam.Ammo likely available. Will not wear out in my lifetime.I can drop it in mud and it will still shoot.I can clean it without any disassembly.I can conceal it.I can defend myself with it.I can hunt food with it.The government might want it later than a semi.I carry semis, but if I can only have 1,I would keep my .357.
