So, in my short research I've found some unconfirmed idea these maybe one of only 200 6940 with Sporter M4 Carbine lowers.

This is a Colt Manufacturing lower with a Sporter and M4 Carbine stamp. This is a 6940 and I've found where only 200 where ever made of this model and 600 of the 6920.

It seems this is a transitioning piece for Colt, where they stopped using the Restricted Rollmark and started again to produce firearms for the "civilian " market.

After less then a year, Colt discontinued the Sporter line 69XX series and went to only producing the LE, Colt M4 Carbine lowers for all, thus the "2013" model was born.

Anyone else have any facts to help prove or disprove this?

Yeah, I wish I would have gotten the box but it was lost in the move, like most.

I'll call Colt tomorrow and see if they can tell me anything. I've only found the 1 comment on other forums about them. I just like to get conformation.

I only see a 6920 on Gunbroker and doesn't even have the correct stamping too, :(

I do know Colts used to be stamped 2013 model on the cardboard boxes to denote 2013 and later production.
This was around the same time as the OEMs came out as well.

Yeah, I've had both the 2013 model which indicates the Magpul rear sight and magazine instead of a Matech or carry handle and 20 rnd metal.

Those both start with LE serial numbers and Colt Defense on the side, as well as M4 Carbine only stamped.

You are the only one here with a rifle like that, bet!

What a beaut!

Thank you!

Yeah, I got it thinking it was a good package price and Pre-CZ 6940 with a lower stamping I didn't have.

Then I realized what I might actually have.

It's very cool, as it shows Colt still marking the civilian guns differently.

Should we all post our old Colts here lol
I have one Colt its a 1968 model by the Le serial #, with restricted roll marks, knights arnament quad rail, even has a Sure Fire spot light around same time period on it.
Then I have a few newer ones.

Please don't find this to be disrespectful but I don't understand most of what you're saying.

I wouldn't consider this 14 year old Colt a "Older " Colt AR. But I'm not opposed to pictures of Colt AR.

You have a 1968 Colt SP1 or M16?

An LE serial number started after '94...

Restricted Rollmark Colt's started in '94 and went until 2011 ish. Yes, the ban ended in '04.

The KAC rail didn't start until the late '90's. And depending on which Surefire model, could be early 90's until today..

I may stand corrected then, just know by what I was told, sorry.....
