I could care less about people being uncomfortable, very few places on planet earth allow this. In theory we can do this and there’s nothing the gov’t can do about it. That in and of itself makes open carry a POWERFUL statement.

If you look at the numbers of weapons licenses that were issued when you needed one to carry, you see that there's always a few handguns around when you go to public places. The moron with the P95 flopping around is just the one you can see.

Your #1 defensive tool is situational awareness. If you're not able to sit facing the entrance with your six covered, you have to account for your weakened position. This is true whether carrying openly or not. Our friend in the picture appears less offensive than he does clueless.

It’s a free country still so do as you wish. I wouldn’t advise doing it for security reasons. There’s a video going around online from a camera in a gas station somewhere in Mississippi. It seems like a tough neighborhood. Some knuckle head walks in with a pistol sticking out of his back pocket. Well the predicable happens. A gagsta looking dude behind him in line grabs the gun and walks out. The kid try’s to convince the gangsta to return it as he exits. The next thing you hear is gun fire. Not a happy ending to that open carry situation.
