Optic on EDC or no?

To each their own. While China and optics don't have the best rep for quality. China and red dots seem to be an acceptable match. Plenty of folks rocking vortex and bushnell. Both oem holosun
Any good red dots coming out of Japan? I have a love for anything made in the US or the former Axis Powers 🙈 Ironic aint it?

Always a dot. Too many pros over irons. Faster sight acquisition. Don’t have to worry about lining up a dot just right like irons, you can now stay target focused, and get shots off faster. All you have to do is change the battery (time depending on your dot). I really like the Acro however it’s pricey but it’s enclosed, so rain, dirt, etc can’t block the laser. RMR battery will last a year but once it’s out or it’s time to replace you have to take the optic off and then re-zero when you reattach. This one is open emitter but shouldn’t be an issue either. Holosuns optics are cheaper can have more features just a little less QC that cause problems to a small number of people. Some are solar powered to which is cool plus.

Holosun is the house brand of the largest OEM in China. They make pretty much everything not called trijicon
What device did you type this on?

I’m no fan of China but when you look at red dots, anything made elsewhere is both more expensive and worse quality (fewer features) so it’s an expensive adventure to avoid them.

I've used full sized red dots on target pistols / raceguns for years, but only recently did I try some "concealed carry" compact sized pistols with micro red dots on them. They seem to suit me pretty well. I don't own one, yet, but I agree that they can easily let you double your effective distance at which you can engage a target.

As for the idea that once you get used to them, if for some reason they don't work (the dot doesn't come on or stay on during the time you need it) you'll be handicapped because you've become dependent on this crutch, I can say this HAS NOT HAPPENED with my 20-years of experience with laser sights on handguns. If for some reason the laser doesn't activate or I can't see it on the target, I hvae no problem just using the iron sights to take the shot. Any delay is minimal-- fractions of a second.

Break it open. Radioactivity might fix your eyes. Or give you cancer. Super vision totes worth the chance.
Hell Yeah!! I could use my nut cracker...Suite!! ( Pardon the Crimmus reference...;)) The problem is I already have X-Ray Glasses from the back of '70s comic books so I wouldn't know what to do with cancer-laden super vision. Although, according to my Wife, I need all the supervision I can get....
