Optimal bullet weight .223/5.56

If you are going to be hunting then you should look at bullets designed for that. I would guess at 300 yards any weight bullet would be accurate enough. You need terminal performance.

Are there any "heavier" weight bullets designed specifically you would recommend me trying out? I was under the assumption these BTHP I ordered would work, or is there different reasons that these rounds are hollow point?

Hey, I don't hunt but it is not weight you are looking for it is expansion. Minute of angle is not needed hunting coyotes at 300 yards. You just have to hit the vitals. If you don't want to ruin pelts you need a certain bullets for that. This link is to an article on a site that is great for what you want to know. Great place. http://www.longrangehunting.com/articles/varmint-hunting-ar-15-1.php
