Pawnshopping

ALL THE PAWN SHOPS IN MY AREA ARE WAY OVER PRICED. SOME THINGS THEY ARE ALMOST ASKING RETAIL PRICES. SMALL TOWN PAWN SHOPS ARE WHERE ITS AT. I HIT UP THE ONES IN THE MOUNTAINS WHEN I PASS THROUGH.

No it was an actual Shop Vac brand. Not that it makes much of a difference. But it was a full size model . Not the higher end metal though. The same one can be had at Walmart for about $60.00 new in the box.
On a side note I would LOVE to be in the Pawn shop bidness. I've known guys that were and their gun, tool, gold, silver and Rolex collections were awesome.
Save the best and wholesale the rest, they have unbelievable negotiating skills and always come out on top. Sometimes I am amazed at what people will take for certain items when selling to these shops, I guess if you need a quick buck you take what you can get.

there's a pawnshop/junk store locally that has everything and most of it looks cluttered up in display cases and barely anywhere to walk that has decent prices

Yeah it's the same for me. In Darien there's only one pawn shop and that guy wants $299.00 for a well used Mosin 91\30 and $89.99 for a used Shop Vac. Pretty much the same story with the shops in Brunswick.
If you live around Macon and middle GA it's very hard to beat the new or used gun prices at Howard's Pawn. Only downside is that you have to go to Macon.

bought a good working Rigid Shop VAC at the Goodwill store for $20.00, $100.00 at the HD! They are my favorite after Pawn Shops

I have built some friendships with a couple of the managers and they will call me when interesting revolvers and guitars come in. Have gotten many deals that I would never have seen without the early warning.

I used to be tight with the original owner of Macon Gun and Pawn. He had an amazing H&K collection and at least half a dozen different Rolex models. When my son was maybe 4 or 5 he gave us a Power Wheels 4 wheeler he took in. And I told him we were grateful given what Power Wheels toys retail for. But it was kinda sad and ****ty that someone pawned their kid's Power Wheels. That's when he took me around back to the big storage room full of go karts and Mini bikes. So kids got big toys in December and ****bag parents pawned them in January.

Go all the time. Have found many under-priced guns over the years.

Your best deals will come from businesses that still go by "the blue book". Several months ago I picked up an antique M91 Finnish Mosin for $120 or $129 or something like that. Worth several times more than that amount. The book can also work in your favor if you're selling/trading. Had a pistol on here a while back I couldn't get rid of, took it to the pawn shop and after they consulted "da book", I got $300 in trade value. That's what I paid for the gun (old Taurus PT92 AF) retail at a LGS.

Can be good places to maneuver around. Some items will be overpriced but others will fall through the cracks. The places where you'll find jack are those "pawn shops" that also think they're super duper cool tactical gun stores.
