The U.S. military is looking into what it would take to dismantle and dispose of more than 35,000,000 rounds of ammunition with depleted uranium cores, predominantly 30mm shells for the iconic GAU-8/A Avenger cannon on the A-10 Warthog ground-attack aircraft. This comes more than a year after the U.S. Air Force revealed it was looking into the possibility of stopping using these controversial rounds for good.

30mm? You know what els is equipped with that same caliber? Guess it will wind up in Ukraine.

Use them on our Enemies or give them to our allies who will use them on our mutual enemies , but only when no American or Allied boots on the ground are needed.

In other words, we will be killing our enemies on their own territory and we're leaving their corpses there to rot-- not trying to take over the land, establish a new government, set up food and medicine camps for their populations, etc.

The next time the Houthi fighters in Yemen backed & armed by Iran attack international shipping, America should unilaterally go over there and destroy all the Houthi camps, forts, bases, buildings, (and armor if they have any) with these rounds.

The next time Iran attacks us or international commercial shipping, America should use 30 mm depleted uranium rounds to sink their ships, lay waste to the shipbuilding and drydock facilities.

Maybe go inland and knock out all the Iranian tanks and self-propelled artillery that they have just for the fun of it.
If we can suppress their anti-aircraft defense systems with Wild Weasel type planes leading the charge, we can do 35 million rounds worth of target practice on anything that rolls on steel tracks.
