I'd have to guess the robber was drunk by the way he was moving/reacting.
Still, knowing he had the gun still in his hand, I'm not sure if I would have let him back away.

^^Both of the above. Genius i believe. The clerk was probably talking him down at the same time. I'm not sure the perp actually said "uncle" or if he did if I'd believe him. Maybe the perp went on to lead a crime free productive life...
