Should you look for a gun that does not have a manual safety so you're not tempted to use it inappropriately or accidentally have it set to the wrong position at a critical moment?
If your handgun came with a manual safety,
should you use it? When? Under what circumstances would you engage the safety?
If it's a 1911 type, part of a proper grip on the weapon has your thumb on top of the safety. So, as you grip the weapon the safety disengages naturally. You re-engage the safety anytime you are not actively engaging a target at the range, but only after all threats are neutralized in the real world.So, when do you engage / disengage the safety?
