Hello everyone,

There's a great range in Eatonton, GA that has tons of metal plinking targets and it's only $10 to go shoot. I only get down there a couple times a year though(2 hour drive). My question is does anyone know of an outdoor range closer to Atlanta that has metal plinking targets or would let me bring something to shoot besides paper? Does anyone have a setup on their land they be willing to let me pay to access? Shooting paper indoors and at WMAs just isn't doing it for me.

How about sharing the name/contact information for the Eatonton range?

I believe Marion Road gun club in Macon has a handful of steel targets but it's a members-only kind of thing.

Gunsite Hills has steel out to 800 or so yards.

Riverbend gun club.

Unfortunately not a lot of options around the Atlanta area that are close. Or require membership.

Amen! I have the same question. Can we start a local club on rented land?

Membership is required, but it's a real nice place. Sporting clays in the rock quarries are loads of fun!

Dues are $100 IIRC

Good range but it's got a real "you're not from these parts are you?" kind of vibe.

It looks like Hitchcock's range from YouTube, just smaller.

Owning a land for a range gets real big, real fast. Just the insurance and liability aspect means you need to incorporate, which means taxes, regulations, business licenses and all kinds of paperwork.

Yeah but it wouldn't be a commercial range it would just we a shared plot of land we'd shoot at.

True, but you still have a shared liability. If Billy Bob brings his cousin to shoot and he blows his foot off, everyone who has and ownership share could find themselves in civil court trying to not lose their house. Without being incorporated the owners are fully liable for anything that happens on that property and none of their personal assets would be shielded.

I'm sure they would be some way to do it, and not risk losing your house, but again, you would need to bring in lawyers and probably set up some kind of business entity.
