If anything flitz is too mild for removing the old finish. It would probably work well as a final polish. I have used it on blued guns many times. Cleans years of grime out of the finish and leaves a nice deep blue but that is by hand, not with a buffing wheel.I have used it to clean off the cylinders of revolvers in the past.
Flitz is rated at 6000 gritWould some flitz be too abrasive to use to polish?
I use Renaissance wax. None better.Looks great!
When you polish a gun how do you protect the metal afterwards (keeping it from rusting quickly)?
The “Mothers” polish and or most others [polish/shine/protect] kinda like car wax.Looks great!

This has me wanting to polish my model 63 ! Great job! After some research, I ended up doing it all by hand using multiple grit sandpapers and sealing it w/Mothers. It took me a total of 8hrs over the last 2 days (hands started cramping) including dis/re-assembly. I couldn’t of asked for a better result. Thank you for everyone’s input.
