Pool experts here?

Just grab a new clamp for it. I’m Assuming it’s fiber reinforced plastic. It looks like a clamp for a top mount.

You probably didn’t do anything wrong. If you look closely, you’ll notice when you start the pump that that filter expands from the pressure. Filters themselves split occasionally. Had one of those clamps split pretty recently on a customers pool.
Do you think the motor for the pump is done? I’m gonna throw a new clamp on it and hopefully everything fires back up.

Probably ok. My filter blew up while I was away for 3 weeks, the pump ran 12 hours a night and still worked fine after replacing filter.

Saturday we had a lightning strike about 100 yds from the pool that took out the pump. Always something.......

If it ran dry for long enough you could have some damage but usually not if you catch it quick.

Things to look for : the first thing that’ll go after running dry is either the shaft seal or the pump discharge will start leaking because the pvc shrinks when it gets super hot (sometimes you have a high temp union here but it’s usually just a threaded nipple)

If the shaft seal is leaking you’ll want to fix that before water works its way into the motor. If no leaks and the motor isn’t making any extra noise you should be fine.
