Primitive Camping

We took our Boy Scouts to the Chattooga River Trail - about 1/2 mile in off the trail and did the Wilderness Survival merit badge last weekend. Primitive is a word. They ended up using a cave for their lodging. Yes, they all were awarded the merit badge.

use a hammock its easier for the bears to drag you off

I use the Eno Jungle Nest and it does make me feel like a burrito for bear's

Pretty sure any national forest is okay for free camping up to two weeks. After that you have to move to another site. https://freecampsites.net/#!Georgia&query=region

Going camping next week in Clayton, Ga at wildcat or moccasin creek.. Anybody know of any primitive spots? I do not want to pay for a spot. Looking for a spot where i can still drive my truck up to but is off the beaten path.

You are not going to find any free primitive spots on Moccasin Creek. Wildcat has two campsites, both fee based. You can drive past the 2nd Wildcat campsite up toward the AT. Just before the gate(about 1 mile from the AT, there are some sites on the right. The lower portion of Wildcat is patrolled. Before you ever get to Wildcat, there is a road to the left called Kennesaw Lane on Dick's Creek. A lot of the first property you hit is private, but toward the end of the road are some good stealth campsites.

I wasnt sure if camping was allowed anywhere on the Atlanta tract besides near the entrance to the horse trailer parking. I took the jeep in a few months ago and saw a few good areas to camp near the road river river crossing
