Does anyone know what these dots/forge marks are for?

These are 2 different, brand new, Freedom Uppers from PSA. Just received them today

A pic of the actual forge markings would help. I'm guessing they came from different forges. As far as the forward assist being different, PSA gets pieces parts from wherever they get the best price.

romans1212 romans1212 , the “dots” on the face of the “tongue” of the upper that inserts into the receiver look to me like anomalies in the forging process. Cant imagine they would create any functional issues and they are in the center of the tongue so it should have no effect on the seating of the upper into the lower. DanKATL DanKATL has your answer on the forward assist.

The finish looks better than I’m used to seeing from PSA.
