Ptac PSA

I have one of these. Oh yes, I admit it...

The perception made by some here is to make it almost as if it is embarrassing to own one, yet they have never owned one. I spent about 510.00 dollars on my complete build. I also have Daniel Defense, Noveske, and a Spike's - two of which are contract ready. All go bang, and all live up to their price tag. The infamous "PTAC" does anything your average bushmaster patrolman or M&P does. Will it hold up to a torture test? Probably not as well as a billet lower with a noveske bcg and barrel  , but it'll get the job done for oh sayyyyyyyy 90 percent of newcoming civilian AR owners plinking in the backyard. It is not a bad deal and I have talked about 5 beginners into buying them - all are very satisfied. They dont need a chrome lined barrel or nickel boron bcg. They just need something that bangs 30 times and fits the part.

.....I priced it out and after FFL and shipping you can build a complete PTAC 16" for 470.00 - 490.00ish - shipping and FFL included. PTAC upper with bcg is 290, blemished lower with lpk is 80....shipping should be around 30 and the FFL is about 25. Now go to amazon and order the 20 dollar A2 carry handle and a 40 dollar stock and buffer kit. Waa la.

So for those arguing to spend 200 bucks more on a factory new build, does that mean you are suggesting something like the infamous carbon-15 or the M&P Sport model?

JMO you arent going to notice a difference on anything you build under lets say 800.00 bare gun, and to compare a PTAC to something BCM or DD would just be unfair.

Why would you use something for spare parts that doesn't work?

Good point.

I was thinking mainly about the more generic springs and such.

I'd probably be more apt to use a spare lower (already completed) than change out a spare LPK on a particular lower.
