Question about an advertising banner

So I was just browsing the site and where the cheaperthandirt.com, etc,banners (the long ones center at the top of the page, under the forum -> welcome to the ODT -> the help forum, etc is there was a banner that said "You have a private message from someone in Kennesaw" I didn't click on it so I don't know what it leads to but I'm just trying to find out if this is a legit sponsor/ad or if I have a bug on my computer.

Interesting thing is a Discover banner is up and I have a Discover credit card. I think they have been up for a while though.

Yea I'm thinking I have a bug, now its Amazon showing some watching I have been looking at.

All kidding aside, I sent a PM for an Oakley bag a member had, and ever since I see Oakley bag banners..

The banners are smart (really), the ads are customized to you based on your searches..which I find a little intrusve but that how things are these days. If you go to Amazon and search for something specific then you'll see sites with Amazon ads highlighting what you had searched. For me, I was looking at flights yesterday and now Airtran has a banner ad on here nearly every page I go to on ODT.
