Here is a question for those of you who love guns and also believe whole-heartedly in the constitution (like me):

Would you support repealing the second amendment and abolishing the individual right to bear arms if it was ratified by a 3/4 majority of the states?

The framers of our nation made a very important decision in Article V of the constitution, which says we the people are able to change the constitution with a 3/4 vote of the states (via congress or directly through state campaigns).

So, lets say 3/4 of the states of this nation voted to repeal the 2nd amendment, doing so through a completely legal and constitutional process. Would you lay down/turn in your arms, or would you deny the right of the people to do as the constitution dictates? Whats more important and holds more weight, the second amendment or article V of the body of the constitution?

Honest answers, please.

Suprema es lex.

Is it even the constitution anymore if you are removing and changing the most basic foundations of it? Is it even American to go against the principles of the Dec. of Ind.? at that point your least worries are the Democratic process, either get the hell out of dodge or get ready for another civil war.

I would argue that Article V is more a basic principle of the constitution than any amendment. The amendments were modifiers of the body of the document, not the core of its essence. I hold the Bill of Rights very high but the Constitution itself is the crux IMO.

Yep, this. If it ever got to the point where the majority of states even considered this, our nation would be in deep ****.

however, the right to bear arms is the reason this great nation was created and is a symbol of our freedom as Americans. Take away our right to bear arms, and fundamentally, our freedom is taken.
