Question on AR-15 Value

good advice in previous posts, only thing I would add before you fire it use ago no go gauges properly to check headspace. we don't want your next post to start out with, hey I just had a kaboom...

And saying you used a UTG anything drops the price big time...

I'm going to have to disagree with that blanket statement. UTG may not make high end stuff, but the forearm is Made in the USA and is solid. I'd say it rivals most of the more expensive free float forearms in quality, for half the price.

I think it is silly to go into debt spending thousands on a ring when starting off a marriage.

Agreed. This is why I'm raising cash to buy one. I have a good bit of money saved up, some of my savings just happen to be in investments that aren't too liquid at the moment.

Re-read the first post... I bought gauges and checked the head space when I built the gun. Thanks for offering some input though.

If you are planning on keeping this woman for the rest of your life a few more months of saving doesn't mean anything. Keep the gun, keep saving, she'll be there.

The market for a self built gun is very weak. If you really need the cash, I would carefully disassemble it and sell the individual parts. Otherwise, you're going to take a pretty significant loss.
