Quick question about 357sig barrel swaps

I know you can put a 40 barrel in 357sig chambered Sig. But can you put a 357sig barrel in say a 40cal chambered M&P VTac?

40 cal and .357 Sig are interchangable in my Sig P239. Either mag will work with the other caliber.

The reason I ask is because I was wondering if 357sig pistols were built to different specs because of the higher chamber pressures or are the pistols built virtually identical except for the barrel and caliber markings?

Looking at the longevity of a pistol if I was to drop a 357sig barrel into a pistol that was marketed as a 40cal.
