OK, I have a rifle that I do not want to disassemble to Cerakote it. It is extremely accurate and if I take the receiver out of the stock it will almost assuredly screw up my barrel harmonics. I also want to paint the scope. Here's the question.

If a Nightforce scope has been rattle can painted, would you be likely to pay less for it? I don't intend to sell this rifle or scope, but you never know.

yes, i won't pay full retail for a painted gun even though I can easily remove the paint. That said, I won't pay full retail for a used gun either. Hell, I won't pay full retail for a new gun from a gunstore so maybe I am not the person to ask.

I spraypaint my guns too. I just strip the paint before selling them.

Bear, you couldn't give me a night force scope that has been rattle canned. I am a serious snob when it comes to spray paint on my guns.

You are exactly the person I need to speak to! What is the best way to remove the paint? I've been told that if it bonds to the surface properly the only way to remove it is sanding. Obviously, that won't work.

Removing the scope from the rifle is no big deal, so the next question is, how safe is it to Cerakote a scope. I've been told it's unsafe because of the heat, but then I see ones that have been Cerakoted. WTH?

My friend just rattle canned a remington 700 .338 lapua magnum with nightforce. I'll post a pic in a min.
