Rattle can paint job resale value.

Oh, and for what its worth tearing the rifle down to ceracoke shouldn't mess with the accuracy. High end customs get built, test fitted, and then torn down (sometimes several times) before final assembly. It will certainly require you to have to zero it again, but the accuracy should still be there. :thumb:
Unless you have a Savage with the Accustock then there is a certain torque sequence to follow. No big deal as long as you know.

With a good torqe wrench (in/lbs) and a properly bedded stock or chassis you should be able to remove the action and reinstall it without adjusting your zero. I can take my scope off the rail and not adjust my zero.

Stolen from another forum:

Proper Adjustment of The AccuStock

There is a specific technique for assembling the action into the AccuStock, and it needs to be strictly adhered to as follows:

1. Ensure that the recoil lug “wedge” screw is backed out to the point where the wedge has sufficient vertical movement to allow the recoil lug to seat against the bottom of the aluminum rail.

2. With the action inserted into the stock, justify the action toward the rear of the stock to allow the recoil lug on the action to be seated against the boss on the aluminum rail.

3. Tighten the forward most screw to 10 in.-lbs. to seat the action against the aluminum rail boss, then back out one-half turn.

4. Tighten the middle action screw to 10 in.-lbs.

5. Tighten the rear action screw to 10 in.-lbs.

6. Tighten the forward action screw to 10 in.-lbs

Repeat steps four through six and increase torque value in increments up to a final torque value of 40 to 45 in.-lbs.

Note: It is extremely important to tighten per the instructions above because when you are tightening the action down into the AccuStock you are spreading the aluminum side rails and evenly moving the action down onto the base of the rail, ensuring positive engagement.

Of course my 10tr only has 2 action screws, so, I just followed the instructions going from forward most to rear most. I must have done something right cause I shot a great 100 yrd group over the weekend:

I don't care much for painted actions due to it can cause some problems with the function, the paint can degrade a little after cleaning and working the bolt, moving parts etc. Had to tear a couple of friends down and clean the crap off because they didn't have the tools to take down the bolt, after it gummed up the bolt
Scopes are usually cerakoted with air cured.

As far as taking the barreled action out of the stock, just make sure you torque it back in with a inch pound torque wrench, then make sure it's sighted in, can change your POI when you first put it back in stock.

Good advice, but I've taken receiver bolts back the exact same torque on other rifles and not been able to reproduce the harmonics. It's a 0.25 MOA rifle and I'm taking no chances of losing that. I think I'll get the barrel and action Cerakoted in the stock and just wrap the scope.

Honestly if I wasn't taking it apart I would just spraypaint it for the simple reason the spraypaint will usually clean off if you ever do want to get ocd about it in the future. I can speak for the stock, but rattlecan usually comes off everything else with some carb cleaner. Duracoat may be a bigger pain in the ass.

Just about an hour, a roll of paper towels, a toothbrush, and some Gunscrubber. No biggie. You want to paint your rifle and scope, go for it!

That's encouraging! I think I'll do a small test spot to see just how hard it is to get the paint I would use off.
