Dot 3 brake fluid or just paint stripper will remove the paint easily. Problem is the scope was probably painted to begin with so it will probably remove that paint too. I wouldn't paint a Nightforce scope, i would wrap it with some of that cheap camo wrap that they sell at Wal-mart, Cabelas, etc. It is basically like medical tape and only bonds to itself. I wrapped my whole 300 BLK SBR, scope, can, everyting for hunting season and when the season was over I pulled it right off.
You can obviously take more time and make it look better than I did, I didn't care what it looked like, I just wanted it to break up the outline of the rifle.
