RBGC 2019 Run-and-Gun (5k/10k)

Not necessarily because it's graded on a curve... if someone crushes the run time and shoots above average they would hurt some feelings.

To be honest this year there is enough variation in the stages that it'll be hard for anyone to run away with shooting. The variables of knives/axe throwing and the shotgun stage could mix things up a bit.

I was feeling pretty confident about the shooting unit you mentioned axe and knife throwing...... will we really be doing that?

Stage 1 - IED
Stage rifle where indicated. Lay down on your back where indicated.
On buzzer load pistol and engage 5 targets (minimum 2 A/B hits to neutralize) through port.
Holster pistol and drag your buddy to your rifle.
Engage 5 rifle targets using movement as needed (minimum 2 A/B hits to neutralize).
No shoots are +30 seconds per no shoot, not per hit on a no shoot.

Stage 2 - Primitives
Load your pistol and holster it. On the beep select (2) throwing weapons (knives or hatchets) and move to outline on the floor. Engage both close targets with your throwing weapons. Draw your pistol and engage the PAPER targets as you see them. (2) A/B hits needed to neutralize each target. (20 pistol min)

Stage 3 - Scattergun 5-stand
Select a shotgun from those available, load 5 rounds, engage a single clay target from each of the 5-stand throwers. (Ammo and shotguns provided)

Stage 4 - Highpower
On buzzer climb up on roof prop. Load. Engage reduced IPSC torso at 50-100 yards (1 hit required). Now engage the 600 yard full IPSC torso (1 hit required). Continue alternating single hits on both targets until a total of 10 hits (5 on each target) have been made.

Stage 5 - the box
On arrival RO will take a measurement of a particular dimension on your rifle. You must then navigate the mud/wire crawl. Once at the box, on the beep, attempt to make (3) hits from each of (4) ports inside 'the box'. Your muzzle MUST be past the rear panel of the box when firing. You may ONLY fire 3 shots from each port. Once done in the box, clear rifle and ground it and make up any misses with your pistol on the reduced IPSC torso at 50 yards, standing.

Stage 6 - Windsprints
Shooter begins in pistol shoot box. On beep load pistol and make (1) hits on a standard size IPSC torso target at 30 yards. Holster pistol before leaving box. Move to rifle box and load rifle and make (1) hits on a reduced IPSC torso target at 30 yards. Safe rifle before leaving rifle box and return to the pistol box. Repeat the above until both targets have 6 hits each.

Sounds fun!

I was thinking about running a bipod for the long range stage but if we are going to be shooting from a roof prop I don’t think it will help me much unless I kick the legs backwards

Not worth the effort or weight. Put the forend on the roof apex and push the rifle forward to magazine contact. Depending on roof size, tuck your legs under you or lay out across the roof.

I have a feeling ammo management trying to make 600 yd hits will be a bigger problem. Typical 55gr will be transsonic at best, which makes all kinds of wonky things happen

My "bipod" is a 3.5 ounce sacrifice and while I probably won't need it for this R&G, I might on the next one, so it is staying on as a package. I haven't been running with a 20 lb vest for 2 months for nothing!
