Red dots on pistols

If you can zero at 25, do it... 3 rd groups and move the dot... ensure tour able to maintain same sight pic...

If tour not able to zero at 25, zero where you can and get somewhere where you can shoot for offsets to understand where your round is impacting at various ranges...

BUIS is a must!

with the DPP in the Sig M18 it removed the rear sight. I would have had to get the accessory rear sight and a taller front sight and in the end it just wasn't worth it.

If I am having to take long range shots with a 4" 9mm pistol, then I probably made some bad choices along the way... lol

Roger, understand all. The army has not transitioned to RDO as of yet. This will be one of the major flaws in the Sig is that there is no rear sight once you take that off to mount a red dot on there. They will find out that once that red dot is down for any reason or time that that gun is worthless and turns into a point shooting gun.

I don’t have the M 17 or 18. I have a milled 320 slide. This gives me the best of both worlds.

As a side not the few romeos i had that came on the sigs i bought batteries always crapped out after a month or two so they burn through them quickly

Proves the point it’s not a primary sighting system to be utilized without BUIS.

Lol also that you need a quality optic, but yes very true I demand buis on any carry gun i use, why I wasnt excited when the ccarry came out with that stupid design when glocks MOS system albeit half ass attempt was much better than sigs, try at optics only giving you the option to ymuse thier RDO or a leupod that sits super high on the pistol, but yes very true I encourage having BUIS on any firearm with a red dot

I don’t think this all started as a discussion as to a red dot being a primary sighting system.

The entire description of iron sights states “BACK UP iron sights” though. So it would make the optic a primary by default....

I don’t see how anyone cannot run BIUS while running RDO... it makes zero since and on a carry gun it’s irresponsible. Electronics and mechanics fail at some point , BUIS do not.

Iron sights absolutely fail. They can shift, break off(plastic sights), bend, etc.

Sir, you are correct...

“help me keep my bias that a red dot is not needed on a pistol” from OP.

An RDO is absolutely not a necessity on a self-defense weapon. However if you have an RDO on said weapon you must have BUIS.
