Red dots on pistols

Iron Sights suffer the same types of failures that RDS can.

Rear Sight Failure

Iron sights absolutely fail. They can shift, break off(plastic sights), bend, etc.

OK my bad if you stick with the plastic bull**** that comes on a weapon system sure they can thing they can down up they can break they can however if you go with an aftermarket iron site they will not fail provided you do your preventive maintenance checks and services to ensure your sites have not shifted

That looks like a rock stuck in your iron sight. If that’s a rock that’s not a failure on the iron sight

The design lends itself to be rendered useless by merely getting debris in it. That’s a failure of the hardware.

Same as if your pistol stops running because you got debris in it. At that point you would blame the hardware, not the debris. How do you think military trials and product testing are performed, if there’s a stoppage, it’s a hardware issue(except for ammo malfunctions).

The exact same argument could be made for a RDS being failsafe.

I personally think having both front and rear irons makes the transition to “Dot sighting” easier. When the irons are utilized the “dot” appears if set up correctly. Without the rear i would think it would be harder to train?? As usual...my 02

No.. if your running you pistol and it had debris in it for whatever reason, I would not blame the gun. It’s the Enviorment and condition your in... you can’t blame the firearm on be rid unless.... Nope, it can’t be done.
